My Dear Blissers,

The topic is astonishing enough to arouse curiosity! Is it related with house remodeling, house renovation, or redecoration? The answer will be unveiled in his coming meeting on Oct. 24, 2020! Here is his introduction and agenda:

Intro:

Every company/government goes through administrative reform and reorganization from time to time to improve effectiveness and efficiency.

A dysfunctional government is like a Winchester House.  It has a lot of redundancy, which can be very inefficient and sometimes can be utterly ineffective.  If a government is structured like a Winchester House, can it be fixed?  If it can be fixed, how do we fix it?

Agenda:

Introduction & Disclaimer

Topic 1:

Compare and contrast the structure of the US government and the ROC government.

Exercise 1:  Each team presents its thoughts on the comparison.

Malls vs. the Pharaoh

Exercise 2:  Presidents’ authorities.

Topic 2:

Dysfunction example 1:

The dead water memorial

Dysfunction example 2:

A manager who cannot manage - words from a public hospital’s superintendent.

Topic 3:

Why is it difficult to fix it?

Reason A:

Fix Winchester House without moving to a hotel as a temporary residence.

Fix the government without interrupting the services.

Reason B:

Permanent employees

Reason C:

People refuse to change

Q&A:

Guided Questions:

1

Which service provided by the government bothers you?  If there any public works that you think should be improved?

2

If you are the President of Taiwan, what would you do?

3

If you are the mayor of any city in Taiwan, what would you do?

Attendees: Andy Liang, Summer, Stanley, Wisely, Mike Young, Jeff, Uncle Ting, Ellen, Annie, Willy, Emma

Meeting started

As usual, Wisely presented his meeting by listing his meeting in chorological order.

2020 Adventure in New Zealand

2019 Hang Son Doong

2018 Black Mirrors

2017 How to prepare to go to a mountain

2015 LGBT Issue

2014 Joined Bliss English Club, started from first meeting – “Happy” by Peter

We are awed by this well-listed hosting history in chronological way for self-improvement.

Where are the movie scenes taken?

In the warm-up, he called us attention to some scenes from “The Load of the Rings”

, “The Chronicles of Narnia” series, and told us most are shot in New Zealand.

What is the difference in national flags between England and New Zealand? 1841-1947 colonized by UK, same as UK’s, after independence, their flag takes the UK’s flag smaller on the left and southern cross stars on the right.

The country—its location and map

He told us that to balance the economic importance between South Island and north island, New Zealand moved their capital from Auckland (North) to Wellington (in between both islands).

Size compared with Taiwan

He put Taiwan in the map of New Zealand, clearly about one-fifth of its size.

It is famous for being coined as living Geographical Classroom such as Glacier, Bay, Mountain, Plain, Hill, Subtropical Forest, Volcano, Coast Line and Beach.

Native (Maoli) called New Zealand as Aotearoa-land of the Long White Cloud. New Zealand only has 4 million while Japan130 million in terms of same size. But the country has over 20% national reserve, and encourage foreigners to work as their environmental volunteers.

Developed Country

UN defines Human Development Index criteria such as a long and healthy life, education index, a decent standard of living. In 2018, New Zealand is ranked 14.

Environmental Priority

They maintain and protect their environment because the citizens have environmental awareness like to eradicating exotic species, buy organic food and more than 71% citizens are willing to pay higher price to buy sustainable products. Other than that, government put their efforts on first nuclear-free nation, 3R policy, resource management Act in 1991. Most impressive of all, enterprises evocate ECNZ and ecotourism.

Kiwi—the word they call themselves and one kind of the bird in New Zealand.

Interaction with sea and nature

They determine to protect nature, build barefoot culture which reflect the spirit of looking for simple life.

The values of respecting cultural diversity

In 2013, it became first legitimate same -sex marriage in Asia.synronize with some Europe countries

Excited Activities includes canopy tour, waitomo glowworm caves, skydiving, glacier trekking, gondola, and luge in which Wisely showed us the pictures and thrilling videos he and his wife took in New Zealand.

Crisis Management

He told us when encountering car damage, people should remain calm. Before we go, we need to bring our international driving license and original driving license for rent cars, signing car rental contract and bring back the receipt.

The final picture is Bradrona Activity aiming for raising a fund for women’s cancer care. It is eye-catching and successful campaign!

Attendees’ feedback:

@Wisely I love the way you proceed the meeting. Interestingly and clearly compare NZ and TWN, national flags between UK and NZ. Eco-awareness driven by bottom-up brings NZ to success. Very impressive to watch the videos taken when in skydiving and luge exciting activities. The way they eradicate the exotic species is so determined. Nature protection and energy saving are everyone's responsibility, starting doing from our daily lives, and buying habits which will change the society and the world. Thank you again for the spirit-spread.

@Wisely

When one becomes more knowledgeable, that’s because of you.  But beyond that, you are braver. You dare to experience it doing skydiving.  Your knowledge plus experience are making you a “super power”.   Your presentation was awesome.  It was an enjoyable Saturday gathering.

Along with all the decent comments and feedback from Bro Ting and Bro Jeff and all peers, Wisely has led off making this meetup an interesting and thought-provoking one.

Are we feeling exotic?” Maybe yes.  But when we reach out to get a hang of something and become aware of team spirit, we become part of the community.  That’s the worth-praising & positive effect of Bliss’.

@Wisely Dear Wisely,

just love the way you made your honeymoon trip so differently by retrospection everything thing you saw in NZ, including their life style, the way they respect and connecting to nature and how their citizenship and awareness toward protecting and sustaining their environment. (and this the power of citizenships making their government change accordingly)

The comparison you made between NZ and Taiwan from all above respects do arouse not only our curiosity but also our awareness on these important subjects you found in NZ.

We've bear in our mind that these amazing landscapes and exciting activities all count on US, we human, our proactive action Right Now, Right from Ourselves toward our environment.

Thank you, Wisely, for such a great journey sharing with us, physically and mentally!!

Thank you all!

Thanks for this interesting club! I learnt a lot and enjoyed the friendship here.

Host’s feedback

Thanks for all the praise you guys give to me; they transfer into the motivation to make me keep moving forward next time.

General reflection:

We are so happy to taste chocolate, cookies brought by Summer, a friend of Uncle Ting and glad to have our new Blisser, Andy share his cookies with us. It is really a resourceful meeting ever. Stay tune!

Host: BK

Topic: “Hope Blossoms-Way to Satoyama (In My Mind)”

Attendees: BK, Annie, Ellen, Uncle Ting, Katy, Sofi, Cathy, Angel, Willy

Meeting Link: https://photos.app.goo.gl/S5pH3RYgcDPkfxyd6

Meeting started…..

Our self-disciplined Senior Blisser, BK. He proceeded the meeting as punctually and pinpointed as usual. First, he led a: demo Introduction” for the attendees except for a new Blisser, Katy. Then he invited us to watch a video clip “Taiwan Satoyama”, and read an article, from which he provoked our answers out of his guided questions.

1.According to the article, what is the benefit of satoyama concept?

To keep it short, the benefit is to make the nature sustainable, so it is nature-based concept

2.What SEPLS means? Social-ecological production landscapes and seascapes

3.What is the Satoyama Initiative? It is a global effort to realize “societies in harmony with nature” through landscape approaches to biodiversity conservation and human well-being.

4.Current status: we have loss of nature balance-the preys and predators resulting in the great ecological changes! To slow down the worse and worse process, we need the convention on biological diversity.

5.An ideal living environment is built through each one of us, the vote and voice of whom will make Select Candidates of Mayor and Congressmen do what we are dreaming of, thus, our landscapes and seascapes will become what everyone believes in.

6.Are there conflicts between ecological and economic developments? City mayors or legislators can make policies balancing between both. As a citizen, we can be alert to make the government do as we like, before that happen, most important of all, we need to have such ecological consciousness to take us there!

Host Feedbacks: BK:

I am so honored to have you all join this meeting because you make this meeting great.

I enjoy the friendship between us just like I enjoyed the satoyama lifestyle for the past years.

Bless all to live out a difference, make a change in the environment around you.

Welcome our new friend, Katy again! Thx for joining today Sofi! Thanks for great hosting and nice gathering! 👍👍👍

Attendee’s Feedback

1. Dear BK, I enjoyed your meeting so much. It reminds me my visits to those beautiful  satoyama in East TaiwanTonight, I found an English version of the video you provided for your reference. https://youtu.be/X6HUbQjtgIQ

wow, thanks to uncle Ting , you found the English one ️great to see you again, Cathy and your lovely little one , next time if you take her with you, please do let me know , I will invite my little one too

2.https://youtu.be/lKEDA-cz9vk

Dear BK, can’t express how much I love your meeting today ...and I mean it!!

From the subject you choose, environmentally friendly action you've took for     years and the way you hosted and guided Blissers into your scenario and engage Blissers into your guided questions discussion.... what a great meeting I've ever joined!!

I specially love the concept that you asked us the question, about if there's conflict between economic development and ecological protection, what will we choose and make our decision?

The answer lies in everyone's mind differently, so how we reach to a consensus in our society or community?

The answer comes in another question we all shall ask ourselves?

" What kind of environment you and your offspring would like to live after 30 years”?

Your meeting is a great inspiration to all of us, specially to me, you've planted a seed in our mind, surely will take further action to grow the seed into trees in our mother land, Taiwan!!

3.I also found recipe of the bottle of enzyme you made by the leftover, and thank you so much for sharing what everyone can TAKE ACTION from ourselves to preserve our vulnerable environment.

  • Dear Katy, I hope you enjoy your very 1st meeting in Bliss and look forward to see you again next time 😉😉

  • I also found the recipe of the bottle of enzyme you made by the leftover, and thank you so much for sharing what everyone can TAKE ACTION from ourselves to preserve our vulnerable environment.

4.  Yes, we can try to manage a small garden in the balcony and take  advantage of the leftover, everyone /family takes one step, friendly to our community/nature

  1. Satoyama concept is only a beginning, the most important is citizenships,  higher quality citizens equal higher quality candidates/ authority. https://www.huf.org.tw/essay/content/2993

6.By the way, dear Blisses... Angel once posted this article with guided questions for Blissers on line input and discussion, the concept of Eternal Village is very close to the Satoyama project BK shared with us yesterday , here I urge and I invite all of you here to take look of this documentary and discuss together with us 😉😉

      https://m.facebook.com/groups/2335853206649952?view=permalink&id=2661555990746337

BK, as a living example, spent most of his leisure time, making his own fertilizer, which can clean the toilet, the sewage, and followingly the river and he also uses these to enrich his soils to plant tall trees and beautiful flowers. His love for the land touches all the participants’ heart! He has successfully planted the seed of “Satoyama” in each attendee today! Stay tune!

Thank Uncle Ting, and Willy to attend my meeting.  Here is the summary:

(1) pictures in different times of our lives denoted what we had done, and what we thought. It recorded as a diary

(2) Naive artists' artworks are flat and repetitive, fewer differentiate layers of colors. Although  邱亞才 learned to paint on his own, his artworks aroused more. imagination and thinking, which distinguished himself among other naive artists.

(3) when drawing self-portraits, you make diluted via flashlight, and position the eyes in the half between your forehead and chin, the nose half between the eyes and the chin, the lips half between the nose and the chin.

(4) Money makers always find ways in the conflicts or dilemma.

(5) Good parents try to balance Nurture and Nature and make best of them. I learned a lot from hosting the Meeting and discussion with Uncle Ting and Willy. Thank Bliss to give the opportunity and attendees' feedbacks.

My Dear Blissers,

Do you like what you look like? Abraham Lincoln once said, you should be responsible for your looks when over 40. How long have you ever gazed at yourselves in the mirror? Time imprints wrinkles, lines, on our facial contour as well as stubbornness and wisdom in our minds, which will show up on our appearance.

Van Gogh, one of the most famous self-portrait artists, has drawn about forty for himself.  In Taiwan, we got 邱亞才, a great artist, but kind of world-famous but obscure in his home country. This coming Saturday, I would like to tell you how to draw a self-portrait on your own and introduce one- in- the- million genius, 邱亞才.

Guided Questions:

1.      Have you heard of 素人畫家? What are the features and examples?

2.      Have you heard o Amedeo Modigliani, 1884~1920? What feature of his “women’s portrait”?

3.      Do you know what feature are shown in Picasso’s portraits in his blue and red period?

4.      What Chinese fine art skills do you find 邱亞才 applied to his women’s portraits?

5.      Do or does one or some of 邱亞才’s paintings impress you, what are they? How you think about it/them?

6.      Can you tell the difference between NOW and PAST on your face?

7.      Tell us what rewards or feedbacks you get after the meeting.

Agenda-

2:30-2:50 Self-introduction and what you think about “Adversity makes an artist”?

2:50-3:10   邱亞才 Short-introduction

Recap of “Privacy consideration and legal compliance of facial recognition in the Artificial Intelligence era” by Kurt on July 25, 2020

Date: July 25,2020

Host: Kurt

Topic: Privacy consideration and legal compliance of facial recognition in the Artificial Intelligence era

Attendees: Ellen Huang , Uncle Ting, Fox, Mike Young, Angel, Ellen Wang, Annie, Vicky, Julie, Kurt

Photo link: https://photos.app.goo.gl/5C3Ndyd61vFPiMdc9

Attendees’ feedback:

  1. Dear Kurt , can't  thank you more of supporting to Bliss all these years , coming all the way from Taichung to Taipei just to host a meeting in Bliss ...Enjoying a lot of the wonderful meeting this afternoon, you not only led us having a quick overview of when and why facial recognition was born 60 years ago, but also  how is the application of facial recognition nowadays .I love the meeting most during the guided discussion session, especially when talking about how to find the balance between privacy and convenience of the AI technology part , you made us think twice if we shall let go our priceless privacy pricelessly to those app or social media companies. Lastly, thanks to all the Blissers attending our meeting today, your attendance and voice means everything to me and Bliss. Wish you all a wonderful weekend ahead! See you all soon in next Bliss meeting 😉😉

  1. @Kurt thanks for sharing with all the high tech, I could see you are a tech savvy and with all the info, analysis, and mutual sharing, I believe, I have become more insightful.   On the other hand, the plug-in of this device, it could, on the bright side, reinforce societal safety, and or evoke a shattering dispute locally and globally is the other. While we learn we are all tapped, our nerves could be driven ‘crazy’ and we would raise our eyebrows. Thanks a lot for an informative and joyful presentation on Sat afternoon.

  1. @Kurt Even though my company offered a lot of AI computing training, I usually hesitated to join due to my technological barrier. Thank you for your clear and understandable introduction of facial recognition technology. I was amazed by the variety of allocations of facial recognition technologies nowadays, such as shop's commercials, security border control, finding missing people/criminals, even toilets paper control in China, or similar technology used in precision-guided munitions. The questions you raised in the meeting also stimulated our interests and reflections of this high technology. Anything is a double-edged sword. We enjoy all the conveniences facial recognition brought to us, but we also lose our privacy at the same time. The discussions also highlighted the surveillance system's differences in core values and usage between dictatorship and democracy countries. I cherish our privacy right protected by our law, instead of controlled by the government's surveillance.  We learned to be more cautious when we embrace high technology. Thanks again for Kurt's interesting and meaningful meeting.

  1. Dear Kurt, you can be awarded as longest distance Bliss Host. Yesterday's inspired me to know better how camera stabilizer works and what technology can be applied in object (face) recognition. I like the group discussion on the dilemmal between government surveillance and privacy concern. Hopefully, the balance measures will be taken soon in the future. Bonus gain during dinnertime is to know water supply infrastructure problems in Taiwan. Most precious of all, Vicky came back to us since she got married and had a chat with us. Thumbs up, Kurt for the knowledge and efforts. ~

Host’s feedback: Thank you so much for the kindly support. To be the meeting host is always the greatest English practice opportunity in Bliss. This is the main reason why I keep the connection with you regarding to the distance. Sorry for the technical connection issue to give a poor presentation experience. Thanks again for your coming and comments. I really enjoy this afternoon with you no problem.

Dear Blissers,

Impacted by the COVID-19, many companies allow their employees to telecommute occasionally or otherwise participate in flexible work plans. Accordingly, privacy consideration” for “individuals or cooperates” becomes more valued.  This coming Saturday on July 25, 2020, our informative hi-tech Host, Kurt, will share the related concern and solution! Welcome to join us!

Here is Kurt’s introduction:

Dear Blissers,

How are you? It has been a while and hope you all are doing well!!

Privacy consideration and legal compliance of facial recognition in the artificial intelligence era. Artificial intelligence (AI) refers to the simulation of human intelligence in machines that are programmed to think like humans and mimic their actions. The term may also be applied to any machine that exhibits traits associated with a human mind such as learning and problem-solving.

Pattern reorganization, especially used in the surveillance system, is one of the most well-known AI applications developed in the recently years. Undoubtedly, safety and security are the major advantages of the application to uncover criminals or to find missing children and/or seniors.

However, the protection of an individual's privacy and the prevention of legal abuse are always the major concerns. On 25th of July, we are going to have a deep knowledge on this popular technology and discuss the pros and cons about the application.

Agenda:

14:30 – 14:40 Warm up and self-introduction
14:40 – 15:00 Experience sharing on face recognition

15:00 – 15:20 Introduction on the face recognition technique

15:20 – 15:30 Break

15:30 – 16:00 Surveillance society overview

16:00 – 16:30 Discussion on the public surveillance

16:30 – 17:00 Personal Data Privacy and Protection in a Surveillance Era

Guided questions:

1. Do you have any experience in using Apple Face ID or Android Face unlock? Do you have any concern on facial recognition technology now nowadays?

2. Have you ever installed the surveillance system in your home and what is the purpose? If not, will you like to install such system at your home?

3. What’s your motivation to have a surveillance system? Do you agree the installation of public surveillance system?

Dear Blissers,

For the recent outbreak of COVID-19, hopefully we not only learn a lot of lessons from firsthand experience but also try to look back on the historical measures in face of infectious decease from our prestigious Blisser, Uncle Ting this Saturday on July 11, 2020!

For self-growth and in-depth discussion, please read the attachments before the meeting. Welcome and Enjoy with us!

Here is the introduction by Uncle Ting,

I assume that you are now enjoying the Dragon Boat Festival holiday. There are many traditions such as eating zongzi(棕子)racing dragon boat, drinking midday water(午時水) and realgar wine(雄黄酒) , and hanging calamus and mugwort at door.

Do you know the reasons of those traditions?

Ok, on 11th of July, we will gather together to discuss "the History of Quarantine", and things related to epidemic and pandemic. Of course, Dragon Boat Festival traditions will also be discussed.

In addition, Black Death was the most fatal pandemic recorded in human history. Many plague columns were erected in European cities with great life lost. Those columns have become popular tourist attractions now. That will be our topic too.

Agenda:

1) Warm-up

2) Epidemic and Pandemic in human history

3) The History of Quarantine and Isolation

4) Chinese folk religion/ festivals and relationships with    epidemic

5) Some famous plague columns in Europe

Guided Questions:

1) Name any infectious disease you know.

2) What do you know about quarantine and Isolation?

3) Do you know 艋舺青山寺? If not, please pay a visit or google it to find its historical relation with the epidemic.

4) Have you ever visited plague column in Europe? If yes, please bring some pictures and stories to share with us.

Dear Blissers,

Welcome back to Free breeze in Bliss again since 0606 first meeting!

This coming Saturday on June 13, 2020, our elegant and dedicated Hostess, Angel will take us to Canada with the background introduction as follows:

How are you? It’s been a long time since we have got together. It’s my pleasure to hold this upcoming meeting and reconnect with you. I believe most of you have been stuck in Taiwan due to COVID19. Don’t miss my presentation this Sat. if you yearn for exotic atmospheres and spectacular views from traveling.

I had a wonderful trip to Canada last September; how lucky was I not to be impacted by the pandemic! During my stay in Victoria and Lake Louise, I had the most amazing and interesting living experience. I would like to share the photos, stories, and lessons I learned from my trip. I also look forward to having you share some of your most impressive living experiences as well.

Since there are still safety concerns for traveling abroad, why don’t you have a virtual trip with me?

Let’s enjoy the beauty of Lake Louise and walk in the wonder of Victoria’s history.

I’ll bring some traditional snacks from Beitou and look forward to having your participation this Sat.

Host: Antonio

Attendees: Peter, Mike, Uncle Ting, Eric, Annie, Ellen, Antonio

Meeting photo link: https://photos.app.goo.gl/MYnvvGxf3QKZCT1E9

Meeting started…

Our informative host, Antonio proceeded the meeting comprehensively and fluently as before. First in warm-up session, we had a sharing about how COVID-19 affected us and we found some new behaviors formed during “Anti-COVID-19 period” as follows:

  1. Personal Hygienic habits such as wearing masks and washing hands become daily routines
  2. In fear of cluster infection, enterprises develop “staggered working hours”, “video conferencing” or “conferencing call”; people keep social distancing; it also triggers emerging “Delivery Industry”.
  3. People come into consensus that “personal defense of “COVID-19” for the sake of others in the world due to “Global village” makes any impacts world-wise.
  4. Taiwan Government Staff showed herself as most successful Anti COVID-19  model in the world, and thus boomed up Taiwanese national identity then!

Antonio’s summary for the meeting:

Although we had a clear ppt presentation and thorough discussion, our devoted host, Antonio made a summary for us to have better understanding and review. We appreciate so much for his support and consideration!

What is neuroplasticity?

1. The brain can change throughout our life; it is shaped and adaptable

2. The billions of neural paths light up when you think/feel/do something

3. By building and strengthening new paths and weakening old paths is the way to make nervous plasticity

4. Four types of neuroplasticity, known as

a. homologous area adaption

b. compensatory masquerade

c. cross-modal reassignment

d. map expansion

The pros and cons

1.Listening to Mozart music for at least 10-15 minutes showed significantly increased spatial reasoning skills

2.Neuroplasticity can aid brain recovery after the damage produced by events like

stroke or traumatic injury.

3.Avoidance causes anxiety to spiral out of control, and we can rewire the neural

pathways to feel safe and secure

4.Learning a second language increases the density of grey matter in the left inferior parietal cortex and that the degree of structural reorganization in this region is modulated by the proficiency attained and the age at acquisition.

5.Compared with bus drivers, taxi drivers had greater gray matter volume in

mid-posterior hippocampi and less volume in anterior hippocampi.

The neuroplasticity and the aging

1.Older people learned a visual task just as well as younger. However, white matter is changed in older people, while gray matter in younger.

2.Dancing induces significant increase in gray matter volume in the left precentral gyrus. Volume increases in the parahippocampal region were observed in the dancers

3.Challenging leisure activities activate core cognitive processes may prove to be more effective than computer-based training. Besides, the effect of cognitive training is durable over time, but relatively limited to transfer to other cognitive domains.

Professional Suggestion on “Delay Aging Process”

  1. Engaged in some activities enjoyable for certain time of the day such as 20’ walk, dancing, gardening or “Bliss meetings”.
  2. The activities feature attainable, sustainable and durable from easy to hard.

Attendees’ feedback:

  1. Thank you, Antonio. From today’s meeting, I learned that “grey matter” mostly exist in “cell body” and in surface place of the brain which obviously are fresh in “young people” while “white matter” in deeper place and dendrites connected with “Synapses” which “life experiences” can activate more in “older people”. I also learned how 4 activities in neurons act in our brains which are “neurogenesis”, “new synapses, strengthened synapse, and weakened synapses. The research becomes significant to me because old people can learn well through “Synapses” connected with life experiences. We, young or old, can form new habits via “strengthened “new synapses” and drop our “bad habits” via the weakened “old synapses”.

  1. I would like also share this important slide with you ,which I notice in myself after turning age of 40 , I started to have a NEW capability ,which is making connection of everything back to myself of what I heard, saw , and experienced I often wondering why and discuss this with several of Bliss good friends , and now it makes everything so clear to me after Antonio's explanation of this slide Our brain will generate more neurons and new synapses while we learn new skill and keep practicing repetitively ,then our brain will change , the process called " Neuroplasticity ". In conclusion, try to " give feedbacks" as more as possible toward every person/everything that touches you, inspires you and guess what, it will not only change your brain gradually but also the counter person's 🤗🤗

Reflections:

It is a resourceful -ever meeting in Bliss history! From the “brain study” perspective, Antonio took us into the mysterious sphere under the scalp, the cognitive part of learning process. No wonder, all the attendees asks Antonio for more information after the meeting. We look forward to his knowledgeable meeting soon next time. Stay Tune.

Meeting started…

Our informative host, Patrick, started the meeting punctually and proceeded as interesting and attendees-friendly way as before!

Sharing Session: The most impressive (car) accident in your life
In this session, Host Patrick recalled us of the * accidents* occurring in the past. After the sharing session, he deliberately linked the following session to indicate how auto-pilot can help in this regard.

How hi-tech helps solve the daily or foreseeable traffic problems

Secondly, he informed us with video clips about how the tech research can help solve the traffic jam or human driving failures.

Auto-pilot Evolvement from Level 0-Level 5

Followingly, he came up with the evolvement with different specification and d description:

Level 0, driven by horse
Level 1, basic auto brake, ex. Toyota.
Level 2, Partial driving automation, ex. Tesla.
Level 3, (conditional Driving automation, with little human intervention
Level 3 "eye-off" 2D system control with human intervention
Level 4 "mind off" with the help of automation

Level 5 full automation without human control, can we say it is autonomous? Ex. Robotic taxi.

 Debates: Pros and Cons

1. Do you agree at the world without human intervention?
2. If the driver chooses auto driving AI should be fully responsible for injuries or any casualties?

Pros: Yes .it help avoid human errors and the responsibility should lay on the AI, of course!
Cons:

Even in autonomous state, it is the designers who face " moral decision” because they are the ones for numerous AI. The decision-making will only fall on some, a kind of “oligarchy”.  As Most of people are so dependent on AI, they also lose their “Free Will”, the most precious part of human beings!

. For private automation, too many cars make waste of the time, resource, deepening the rich-poor gap and hackers ' concern.

Host’s Feedback

Hosting the meeting is always not unilateral lecturing & forwarding, but interactively nurtured by everyone's illuminating feedbacks.

Appreciate for everyone's participation reinvigorating our minds of thinking. Sometimes we do need to pull ourselves out of the minds immersed in long murky working weeks.

Attendees’ Feedback

How knowledgeable Patrick has been at the weekend gathering!  Ha-ha, I escaped our area speech contest and sneaked in to Bliss’ meeting.  It was worth it.

Patrick, as a high tech or auto savvy, has demonstrated his insight and foresight for future market about Autonomous steering.  Although the future is unknown, we could invent, create and foresee picturing how a Utopia-like” country will be born.  Am I day dreaming!  Well if there is a mission statement established, we can make it.  I have truly immersed myself into Pat’s presentation, though I was late. I think Pat has a style that he made the meetup fun and entertaining yet imaginable.

Thanks to Pat for his awesome sharing. If it is measurable, a ‘A plus’ is presenting to Patrick.

Thanks to Patrick‘s fascinating sharing of autonomous driving technology. Through the discussions of our driving experience, Patrick guided us to learn how AI could assist us to have safer and smarter driving. We also learned the different levels of self-driving and actual applications in the current car market. By watching the videos of self-driving cars, it visualized our future life with all the benefits brought by these cutting-edge technologies (ex. self-driving delivery, Robo taxi..etc.).
Although I still have concern for a world controlled by AI, I do appreciate all the brilliant ideas and creativity driven by self-driving technology and look forward to more advantages provided by future technology. Imagine if self-driving cars were ubiquitous now, it surely could help us to mitigate infection of CONVID 19. Restaurants should have no worries to deliver lunch boxes to hospitals. No drivers would be infected COVID 19 during transportation. Thank you for this informative and provocative meeting. You also demonstrated a successful meeting with a vivid atmosphere and perfect time management. I enjoyed this meeting and learned a lot. Thanks again.

Reflection-

Once-a-year meeting hosted by Patrick always empowers us with useful information and knowledge. Besides its advantages of the auto-pilot, the meeting also highlighted its defects and moral thinking along! We appreciate Patrick and all the attendees for in-depth discussion from which the meeting broadens our horizons and offers us with a wonderful guidance to steer the ways to either automated or autonomous driving!

My Dear Blissers,

Do you miss the humor and fluency in Patrick’s meeting? Here is his introduction for the coming meeting on Mar. 7, 2020:

Are you still obsessed with the streamlined and fascinating Tesla car? Actually, the new auto-pilot and self-driving technology is far more than a fancy, streamlined look, as well as the dazzling control panel in the car. Believe it or not, the future of a more advanced technology of unmanned vehicles is just around the corner within 5~7 years.

Thanks to the lightning speed 5G technology, as well as the fast-moving ingenious AI development, all those cutting-edged technologies are brought up to make all “impossibles” possible in the unmanned technology.

Now that Taiwanese companies are embracing this golden age to incorporate with the most advanced autonomous car corps in our time, we are having the luck to witness the next revolution of transportation that is happening now.

Agenda:

14:30 ~ 15:00: warm-up instruction and share about the autonomous car.
- Share your transportation experience — what is the most unforgettable car accident?
- what do you think the best benefit of the incoming of world for transportation driven by autonomous vehicles? and, what is the negative side?
- if one day you are no longer allowed to drive your car, but must controlled by AI or computer for safety concern, what will you think?

15:00 ~ 16:00: the instruction of the coming future for autonomous car (technology, unicorn start-up companies, and the world trend)

16:00 ~ 16:10: short break

16: 10~ 16:50: debate about the autonomous driving

16:50 ~ 17:30: discussion about Taiwan's fruitful opportunities for the era of burgeoning autonomous car

My Dear Blissers,

People say “True Communication” exists when there is no gap between two counterparts to say and write what they mean and mean what they say and write!

It seems mystic and hard to get across. However, our strategic expert, Eric is going to unveil the mystery and guide us in a fun way. Come and join us this coming Saturday on Feb. 22, 2020!

Ears up to his introduction here:

Hi, Blissers~~

My college is known for engineering.  Most of my college friends are engineers.  Our college once surveyed the employers in our community for feedback and suggestion on what our students need to improve.

Out of all the responses from the local employers, the one thing on the top of the list is “communication”.

Communication skill is often the key to an employee’s performance within a company, whether writing an email to a supervisor, talking to a coworker or making a phone call to a customer; it is important that an employee poses good communication skills.

Just about everyone needs to be a good writer and a good speaker.  If you want to perform better at work, sell more products or be a better husband, you need communication skills.

This is a valuable Bliss meeting, it’ll be fun and interactive.

I invite you to have fun with us on February 22nd, Saturday.
