<Bliss Recap of Exploring the 24th World Scout Jamboree. Unlock a New World” by Karl on Sep. 28, 2019

Date: Sep. 28, 2019

Host: Karl

Topic: Exploring the 24th World Scout Jamboree. Unlock a New World”

Attendees: Angel, Ellen, Julie, Igor, Hanny, Naihsin, Winnie, Lily, Carmelo, Mike Young, Daniel, Karl, Annie

Meeting photo: https://photos.app.goo.gl/mdSCvYQtX7PDQBpd6

Karl started with “Loving” Hearts

Karl, a senior and devoted Scout, has been filled with “patriotic” passion for Taiwan and “Parental concern” for cultivating “Elites” in our youth. With such intention, he has been reaching out his “Strong Big Hand” to search more “International platforms” in which offer Taiwan more spotlight. Then excitingly, he found out PROC isn’t a member before he went and Taiwan is and where Taiwan can hold up our national flag. Here he started the planning, organizing, registering, training, and on his expediton~24th World Scout Jamboree.

.

Warm-up Section

Karl asked Blissers to share their bucket list such as traveling, going on extreme sport like climbing the Mount Everest, upstream, bungee jumping, interacting with animals like Kenyan prairie, adventure in Amazon and so on. After that, Karl started his as follows:

24th world Scout Jamboree

Host countries: USA, Canada and Mexico

Theme: Unlock a New World (aiming for a better world)

Executive Director: Marty Walsh

Location: The Summit Bechtel Family National Scout Reserve totaling over 14000 acres, a unit of national park in West Virginia in USA.

Period: July 21 to August 2, 2019

Total: 33600 from 139 countries, 10500 IST

Highlights: Inspiring speeches by the former UN-Secretary, Ban Ki-Moon and Secretary General of WQOSA, Ahmed Alhendawi; Bear Grylls’ getting down the stage from the high; Performance by Pentatonix and light Balance; breathtaking firework and laser show!

Next Jamboree Host Country in 2023: Korea

Outdoor Activities: rock climbing,

Attendees: adults (over 18) and participants (under 18)

Wonderful Design: Sustainable Tree House by USA

What Taiwan Scouts did in the Jamboree?

1.      Troup Leaders arrived 3 days earlier to set up Contingent booth and greeted the youth on July 2, 2019.

2.      After arriving, more scout members join the DIY building their own camps, one of the impressive one is Germany.

3.      Then the contingent team members need to take shifts in charge of Booth matters but they still have plenty of time to go around talking, visiting, swapping badges or attending exciting outdoor activities.

How they promoted Taiwan inside and outside the booth?

1.      Set up our “Taiwan Contingent Booth”,

Based on “the most localization is the best internalization”, Karl chose Taiwanese “Puppet Show” the setting of which is “Journey to the West”, and the figures of which are Monkey, Pig, Monk, and Sea monster. The distinctive figures attracted visitors to the booth!

2.      Writing Visitors’ foreign names in “Calligraphy” on their arms

3.      “Sharp” Questions: How to distinguish “PROC” and “Taiwan?

Though Taiwan has been recognized as only a political entity not a country in the world, the people there enjoy the freedom of criticizing President without being set into prison while the people in PROC never do!

4.      “Question 2: can you tell us what is special of “Taiwan” besides political freedom?”

--Taiwan owns 268 mountains over 3,000 meters in 35,883 sq. km you can swim in the beach and climb up to 3000- meter High Mountain within 4 hours! Comparing with Japan, New Zealand and UK, Taiwan owns the most spectacular topography!

5. Cooperate and work with other countries by attending “Adventure Programs”, by which build up friendship and enhance “Taiwan Exposure”.

Why Taiwan Scouts Joined the Jamboree?

With the most reasonable expenditure, Karl hopes to lead the young scouts to experience international cultures, interact with the elites from every corner of the world, learn how to introduce Taiwan and reinforce their own national identity!

Attendees’ feedback

(1)   Bon Voyage! ’W доброго пути’!    Wow gorgeous West Virginia like a God’s country, 1. heavenly amazingwhere equality, hope and faith, and trust n love truly count. Joyfully we landed on the Jamboree camping ground.  Are we dreaming?  No, but actually Karl did take us down there.  I bet you would get a kick out of it, even if you were not there today.

There were no hustle and bustle down the road but sights and sounds and peace& serenity played an indescribable melody cheering on us.  Beautiful scouts, colorful color scheme on all nations’ f flag, self-assisting state of mind, all pulled together, certainly have offered a new pattern of upbringing for the young ones.

Until the words “Elite” punched out by Karl, the attendees immediately were sparked jumping into cross cultural discussion.  Russian rep, French peer and locals talked over it with various thoughts.

Last but not least, taking part in the world-known Jamboree seems becoming actionable to be written in our bucket list.

I personally have enjoyed your presentation where the heritage, tradition and enchanted beauty of West Virginia n Boy Scout promises, via your realy inspiring sharing, have indeed enlightened our thoughts. Thanks a lot. Keep it up. It’s really a good job.

(2)

Thank you for your sharing, this is my first time to know more about World scout Jamboree, after the introduction about it. I hope one day, I can let my kids to join (if I had), but lucky I have nephews, than I share to their parents about what I heard from the meeting.  I like its spirit -everyone is equal and have chances to embrace the different from each other and from service to others, we are not learning a lot but also gain a lot.  I also see the love and warm heart from those people, if it can starts from younger that will be super good! :)

Host’s feedback:

Thank you for coming to my meeting in the heavy rain yesterday. The 24th World Scout Jamboree is like a dream in the heaven. But after all, I should go back to reality. I choose what the most rewarding part to share with you is. There are several members who are interested in the daily life of Jamboree also. Unfortunately, limited to time, it can’t be detailed. Sorry for that. I am willing to explain this part in private time with interested partners. The real world is always not perfect, hope we can guide more young mans with positive events to inspire them to overcome more difficulties.

Reflections:

Karl’s meeting brought us new horizons to Jamboree and also made us reflect on our own lives and duties pondering what we can do for Taiwan and for youth! During the meeting, we discussed the guided questions and viewed the magnificent video clips of Jamboree’s memorable moments! We really thank Karl for his wonderful sharing and attendees for valuable feedback to the questions. All in all, this meeting is meritorious-ever in Bliss. We all look forward to his next meeting soon! Stay Tune!

<Bliss Recap of “Hang Son Doong, the Largest Cave in the World” by Wisely on Sep. 21, 2019>

Date: Sep. 21, 2019

Host: Wisely

Topic: “Hang Son Doong, the Largest Cave in the World”

Attendees: Host Wisely, Melody, Magic Johnson, Ellen Huang and Annie

Meeting photo: https://photos.app.goo.gl/GBCc43JT6369CBjs

Wisely’s Adventure started~

After sharing our own adventure experiences during warm-up section, Wisely guided us on to his stunning Vietnam expedition to Han Son Doong~

Why the tour of NT$100,000 is worthwhile?

1.       It provides 30 local staff/porters carrying the mountaineering tools such as ladders, power generators, tables, chairs, even water closets, and a tour guide only to serve 10 tourists!

2.      Han Son Doong Cave is officially confirmed as the world’ largest cave, at 5.5 miles long and 650 ft. wide. It is made up of at least 150 individual caves with its own lake, river and jungle.

3.      It was created 2~5 million years ago by river water eroding away the limestone underneath the mountains and forming limestone pavements, stalagmites, sink holes and raging rivers. The scenario put everyone virtually in the movie settings of Jurassic Park or The Lord of the Rings, or even Garden of Eden!

4.      Only one tour agency, Oxalis, gets government-certificate to arrange the mystical cave itinerary following LNT rules and sharing the profits to the local aborigines!

5.      It was hidden among the jungle until one day in 1991, a local farmer stumbled across it for a shelter from a storm accidentally and then in 2009 with help of British cavers he confirmed the finding!

Attendees’ Feedback:

1.      Dear Wisely , thank you for another inspiring meeting share with Blissers today again, the adventure is amazing and open up our eyes and minds, your adventure recalls mine in Taiwan too,  I love the shared idea of leave no trace (LNT) 無痕山林 globally also, feedbacks of the earnings to local people ~ I will definitely share your meeting with my aboriginal friend and let you know his comments ( ^^)

by the way, take this chance, I will definitely set my goal to increase your attendance rate in Bliss in 2020, I feel very touched too you recording each of your meeting and attendance rate in Bliss year by year ~ we are so lucky to have you, always trying to inspire us from different big moments in your life (love) all the best to you for your next big movement, career and life!!

2.      This quote, “reach out and touch someone”, is surely in this internet world talking us into putting tablets and cell gadgets award, in order to renew mankind relationship.

Who I will feel inspired? Celebrities, gurus or religious mentors?  Nay, he or she would be from our surroundings.  Given we are ordinary people with passion and enthusiasm; we thought celebs are super ones to enlighten us.

But that’s not quite true.

Out of today’s gathering, I think life awakenings are very often from unsung figures.  Wisely, our young n talented host set the tone today about adventure.  Not only were the cave slides and photo book fascinating but his well-prepared presentation and free interaction added an impact on us.  Wisely surely did very well.  So it attests to me reaching out and talking to someone is one of the ways to blow off some steam and to come up with new solution.

It is truly thought-provoking and mostly challenges our imaginative strengths.   How could we be inquisitive punching out questions in terms of day and night feel, animal or species, or even wondering of dinosaurs?

Digital world may be awesome but lacking soul searching, however, the new world “Mother Nature” can be worth further.

Reflections:

It is a very refreshing touring experience with Host Wisely, who brings his topography and trekking charts for clear explanation so that we fell into the native heaven of the ancient times with him. Host Wisely took the expedition to convince us that there is so much in Nature to await us to explore! Thank you so much, Wisely, who spares his precious time to Bliss from the squeezing timetable of preparing his wedding and jobs. We are so touched and give all our best to him!!! Stay tune~

The Host~Harrison

This Sat, Angel invited her good friend “Harrison” to share his travelling stories, which really attracted a lot of travelling lovers to join the meeting. To get familiar with Blissers, Harrison started with an introduction about his study and job background.

His journey around the world begun when he joined in electronical industry which lasted for 10 years. As he had majored in mass communication and worked as journalist, his perspective is a little different from the people in electronic business. Then Harrison switched his career to solar industry and has lived in San Jose since 2016. After 3 years living in the U.S., he finally blended in US culture and realized that we can only get people’s mindset and understands how they think or act in a long-term base.

His Tips of Learning new languages~ mimicking

Harrison also shared us his secrets why he can learn a language so efficiently. It’s because he likes to mimic people.

A Demo of Mimicking

We didn’t know he is so talented in mimicking until he started to imitate the local driver’s accent in China. It’s like a “wow” virtual trip, embedded with Harrison’s visual photography and audio effects, which brought us to the scenes where Harrison interacted with the local people.

His Tips of Learning Exotic Cultures Taxi Drivers & Books

Following Harrison’s stories, we learned the best way to know the characteristics of the place is by chatting with local drivers. He also bought the local books to know more information.

It’s very helpful for us to get connection with that country and people and triggered us to know more for our next visit.

His Tips of Being Immersed in Exotic Cutures~Observation & Do as Romans Do

As Harrison visited most of the countries during his business trip, he shared us some anecdotes happened during his business meals and led us to discuss the differences in drinking culture. Per his observation in the past, Korean people like to get guests drunk to show their hospitality. Japanese like to do business while drinking. What we need to keep in mind is to have their cups full of wine.

Ellen also shared with us that French people appreciate the taste of the wine and treated it as a joy of life (C’est la vie) which is totally different from Asia drinking culture.

Then in the next session, Harrison taught us some cultural or historical stories for some famous European tourist attractions. With his vivid explanation, we were all turn up the curiosity for the history towards these places. The stories are too many to mention. Below is one of them.

Stories behind the tourist attractions

The origin of Europe- According to Greek Myth, Europa is the Phoenician princess who was so beautiful that Zeus likes to get her. So, one day, Zeus transformed himself to a bull and played with Europa and finally he took her to Crete and made love with her. After all this, Europa was so sad since she lost her virginity to a stranger who disappeared after she woke up. To explain all this and ease her pain, Zeus sent Aphrodite to her and brings her a message. The message was ‘To memorize Europe’s beauty, Zeus decided to make Europa as one of the Goddess and name the land after her name.’ That’s how the name Europe was coming.

At the last session (POP quiz), Harrison shared us some useful slangs he learned in the US which listed as below. We all learned the usage after his humorous explanation.

Useful Slangs in Daily Life

u Face the music-To accept the unpleasant results of one’s action

u Sleep on it-To take some time in decision. No hurry.

u Go fish-Impossible, in your dream.

u Photo bomb.-Unexpected person shot in the photo

u Under the radar-To keep low profile.

Thanks for Harrison’s interesting and resourceful meeting. Through the discussions, Harrison’s sharing is like butterfly effect which stimulated and inspired Blissers to have more motivation to explorer the world. Below are the reflections from Blissers.

Attendees’ Feedback

1.   Couldn’t sleep on it in instead punch out a few lines about today’s gathering.  The vibrant opening got all drawn into the “Stories behind the pictures” topic hosted by Harrison. It was amused by the lingual interactions in China where Harrison exposed his super skills in mimicking a way different and alien accent.  Geographically has he covered almost the whole world sharing the exhilarating anecdotes that were truly entertaining.  I bet all has immersed into entire scenario.  Great vibe, isn’t it?  Travel is like a journey not a destination.  The footprints we followed will lead us to another horizon.  It never ends.  At this point, it would be good staying calm and planning out a travel map.  Probably will be craving for an overseas adventure.  It was a very enjoyable story telling meeting.   Finally, is today just a sneak preview?!  Next official n original film will be released soon by Harrison, won’t it?🎉Terrific!  Way to go!  And it will be on the radar!

2.      Thank you for Harrison's sharing and brings us been through an abundance of visual and auditory trip experiences.  After you travel a country, you bought local traveling books, search information that you care about and by business trip to been the country again that made you be more familiar to this place...From your experiences, it’s inspire me how to know a country more.  The most impressive things for me is wine culture different for each countries and understood why Korean like to drink and ask people drink and drink...before the meeting, I think it’s just the way for social and they just like to drink, I don’t realize their positive intention. Now I knew that, and be more acceptable for this. Thank you for sharing and efforts. We expect to join Part II in the coming days.

3.      @Angel Thank u so much inviting your friend Harrison hosting in BLISS today for us, we all had a wonderful afternoon with a lot of laughter and WOW from his amazing opening till the end the Asian and several European country travelling experience sharing ...I specially enjoy how he engage himself to the places by reading books bought locally, this is what I haven't done from my travelling experience and I shall learn from him on this.

4.      Also, I totally agree with him that you will need to stay a place longer to understand local people's mindset and why they think and act that way, and through this, it could be a good reflection toward our home country Taiwan then Pity he can't finish all his presentation files with photos he took and hopefully he can share with us his part 2 soon in next year 😉

5.      Thanks again for Harrison’s informative and interesting meeting. It’s definitely the best entertainment for Sat afternoon. Not only the laughter but also the knowledge of culture and history we gained from his meeting. It also triggered me to find out more stories and history about the places I have been. Thanks for all the participants’ feedback and sharing. You made my bucket list longer and longer. Hope Harrison can hold the 2nd meeting soon next year.

6.      Traveling is not just to see beautiful scenery, but also to interact with local people. I'm impressed with Harrison's sharing his experience of interacting with local people. That always brought interesting culture shock.

7.      It's a pity that the topic relating traveling is a huge topic. Though Harrison has so much experience, he couldn't share everything with us due to time constraints and that led to the time control was not that ideal. That was slight imperfect for this meeting.

8.      I learned that although traveling itself alone may not get me to know the visited places in depth, I could see each trip as the start of the journey to know the place better and try to learn more stories about it afterwards with the interests having been further aroused after the visit. By this I could have deeper understanding or stronger emotional connection to the places ever visited. Harrison also encouraged us to start the practice somewhere near easily, some place in Taiwan for example, and we may experience the difference in travelling! It's such an inspiring and practical advice that I like to follow immediately.

Host Harrison’s feedback-

Thank you all! I like to share all my stories with you guys which also trigger me to dig out for more information that I don’t know yet. And from the sharing, it also refreshed my memories with all these trips.

Are you ever intoxicated in Tibet?

Its Intriguing political status, Tibet autonomous Region, Dalai Lama’s Exile?

Mysterious religious belief~ reincarnation?

Its Tibetan Plateau scenery or Potala palace?

If any of the above answers is YES, you are the right one to this coming Saturday’s meeting by David, a young and knowledgeable Blisser!

Introduction by David:

Have you ever been to Tibet? Do you know there are two Tibet in the world?

Before I took a trip to Tibet in 2018 Nov, all I know about Tibet is the famous part internationally such as beautiful landscape located in high altitude, Potala palace, mysterious and special Tibetan Buddhism. I watched several news reported that Dalai Lama could not return to Tibet, and In Tibet many of Lama burned themselves to protest against China. Tibet seems to be under oppression from China, but I don’t know why it happened. I want to go to Tibet for experiencing their culture before it disappeared. After the trip, I have highly interest in Tibet so I study some data. Now I know that there are two Tibet governments in the world, one is the province-level autonomous region of China, the other one is the administration in exile led by Dalai Lama, which is still fighting for freedom and survival against China in this modern world. Tibet has tragic history and complex political issue in the world. This coming Saturday I'm going to share what I learned from the trip to Tibet, and let us think about Taiwan through Tibet experience.

Please Note here:

Prior to the meeting, please prepare the guided questions and video clips for the in-depth discussion, the most rewarding part during the meeting!

60 years after exile, Tibetans face a fight for survival in a post-Dalai Lama world

https://edition.cnn.com/2019/03/30/asia/dalai-lama-tibet-china-intl/index.html

# Questions to discuss from this article

  1.       In the article, The Dalai Lama says he no longer seeks an independent Tibet, only its cultural autonomy==> Is this refer to 17 points &treaty they signed with China? Why did Dalai Lama turn to seek for only cultural autonomy instead of independence? Was it out of practical reason (expected higher possibility) or some philosophical, religious reason? What belief does Dalai Lama share to them now that the humble request had also been turned down by Communist China?

And, what is the goal of Tibetan govt-in-exile, an independent Tibet or cultural autonomy as Dalai Lama seeks for?

  1.        “In 2011, in a move to democratize the Tibetan government-in-exile, the Dalai Lama gave up his political and administrative powers to become just a spiritual leader ‘ è So how does the Tibetans in-exile elect their political leader and how does the democracy system work there?

  1.        "India is sensing Tibet's appeal in the West is declining”è Is it true &why?

  1.       Ultimately, current” geopolitics” is what matters most for India. China is vastly more powerful than it was 60 years ago, and India takes a pragmatic view of the relationship -- an approach that could have a cost for the interests of exiled Tibetans.
  2.   So what is “geopolitics” exactly refers to here?  And what cost it would be for the interests of exiled Tibetans maybe?

5.  "The current Indian stand towards the Tibetans is based on its relationship with the Dalai Lama," è Do you agree such statement? If not, what’s the Indian’s stand toward Tibetans?

  1.         Will the "seemingly never-ending" dispute on boundaries between India and China a guarantee for India's support to Tibetan government-in-exile? What impact is anticipated to the Tibetan government-in-exile after India's recent move to end the 70-year autonomy of the State of Jammu and Kashimire, which intensifies the India-China relation?

As we know, “Blissers” are the ones who “Learn the world via English, not learn English only! Therefore, in  each Bliss Meeting, our hosts always enrich our lives with their distinctive perspectives and life experience, and today’s host, Angel’s friend, Harrison is no exception. Without further undo, welcome to join his meeting on Aug 10, 2019!

Introduction by Harrison:

Ideas:

Travel is a good way to open up your eyes! You can definitely see whichever way you want to see, cultural, historical, political, geographical, etc. For years, I had been traveled throughout most of the western and Asian countries for business. A lot of interesting stories came along with each trip. By sharing these stories, not only that I made a lot of good friends, but, most important of all, I treasure these stories as a part of my life, my memory. Life goes on while stories keep going around…Where is your next stop?

Background introduction:

I have been so interested with learning a new language back in my old days at school. Since I was a child, I like to imitate people talking, mimicking all kind of different sound and keep that as one of my silly hobby, not realize this will be a good feature for picking up a language. A dream of mine was to become a professional actor like Tom Hanks, but then it is too departed away from my life now ever since I engaged myself to electronic business in 2004. Out of my surprise, this also opens another door for me to see the world after I switch my career from journalism to electronic industry! Trained as a journalist, I am definitely not an engineer or anything in technical which my perspective is a bit different from anybody from the electronic business. I like to interact with people and dig things out with my curiosity. Thanks for coming and share stories with me.

Guided questions:

1.      What is your experience of learning a language? Any features of your personality help you with that?

2.      How do you like to interact with people especially when they are coming from multiple different countries?

3.      Like to fit in with different culture and feel the shock? What is your experience with that?

4.      Changing from environment to environment can be challenge. Do you have any experience with that? And what your body tells you how to react to those changes?

5.      What do you think is the most important feature to become a world traveler?

6.      Would you go if there is any chance coming up to you for working in another country or area?

Agenda

1. Introduction + Footprints 14:30-14:45

2. Asia: 14:45-15:15

3. Europe: 15:15-15:55

4. Break: 15:55-16:05

5. Americas: 16:05-16:35

6. Middle East: 16:35-17:00

7. Q&A and Feedbacks from Blissers : 17:00- 17:30

<Bliss recap of “Fake News Detection” by Kurt on July 27, 2019>

Attendees :  Kurt / Ellen /Winnie / Hanny / Tony

Photo Link : https://photos.app.goo.gl/H4m8pFNSZ79Cdjoa6

Dear Blissers

Kurt started his meeting with a very impressive self-introduction , his name given by his school teacher meant courteous and full of wisdom And he mentioned he has never met anyone in his life having the same name as him till NXP (the world top 5 semi-conductor company ) acquired his current company and the president of NXP also call KurtSievers~ 😊 Kurt now became the most famous employee in NXP Taiwan as he said !!

Then, we followed up his guided question discussion :

1.       What kind of social media plate form we use and whats the mot impressive thing happened on your own social media

ð  Blissers use FB / Line mostly and the most concern issue is privacy so some will create 2 different accounts on FB ( for work and for personal use ) while the others will use Koreanaccount name on FB to prevent the others can search from them on FB

2.       Then we went on a case study shared by Kurt that a democracy reported by a Sweden NGO- V-Dem , their report up to more than 100+ pages to illustrate the democracy status in the world while one of the parameter they use is the fake news issue within a country , and Taiwan was reported as most severely fake news attacking target from foreign countries in the world . and here are 2 questions to think about

2.1   How they came out this result ? and how the sampling and target surveying audience are chosen

2.2   Observing Taiwanese medias reporting of V-Dem report , they select only the fake news parameter but ignore all the other important factors listed in this report , seems they want to guide the reader toward the fake news issue instead giving whole view of this democracy report

To sum up, Kurt reminded us being carefully check the source of news whenever you read also be highly alert not being manipulated by media

3.       So HOW and what we can do when reading these news?

3.1   check as more as different news media in the world for the same subject that youre really concern about ( as it is very time consuming , so focus of the issues that you concerned )

here are some news media for your info : BBC/ Fox News / The Economist / CNN / AI Jazeera (半島新聞) / RT ( Russian Today ) / EURONEWS

3.2   search those news media not only by one single search engine (e.g. Google ) but as more as possible like Bing / ask.com /AOL.com / Baidu /Yandex / Duckduckgo / yahoo..etc.

Why need to use different search engines? Here is latest news about how Google want to hack 2020 USA presidential election clip for your info:

https://photos.app.goo.gl/H4m8pFNSZ79Cdjoa6

4.       Lastly , our Blisses gave following feedbacks to our beloved host- Kurt in the meeting

4.1   Thanks for today's host Kurt, especially sharing the sources and methods for us to distinguish fake news , or some issue what we care about that makes me how I can remind myself to use different search engine and social media to double check and  have my critical thinking. Its also the crucial part which I need to learn .

Thanks for your sharing today.  And also Thank Ellen to sharing your ideas and puts good questions to host and us :)

4.2   As the source and information are incredibly enormous nowadays, it is really important for all the readers like us to sharpen our critical thinking capability as not to be easily manipulated by the search engine, news reporting and info sharing on social media ~ and one very important point is we shall not be the "helper" for those fake news, misinformation~ so let us NOT to spread info before we truly believe and verified by ourselves ( let misinformation and fake news stop from us )

5.      Host: Thank you so much. The problem is serious this information explosion era. It's my pleasure to host this meeting and get your attention. ;)

Please Kindly note:

There is no meeting next Saturday on Aug. 3, 2019!

My Dear Blissers,

My Dear Blissers,

No one can deny the one who controls the Media is the boss especially in the networking media age!

How can Blissers recognize the truth from the bulks of transferred or intentional misleading Fake News?

Did the government regulate to inhibit or back it up instead?

This coming Saturday, Our Senior and informative Blisser, Kurt, is going to unveil the myth and shield us with the knowledge against such big wave of Fake News~

Welcome to jump on the wagon on July 27, 2019!

Kurt’s Introduction:

The explosive growth of information and its erosion to democracy, justice, and public trust increased the demand for fake news detection. Fake news is a neologism often used to refer to fabricated news. This type of news, found in traditional news, social media, or fake news websites, has no basis in fact, but is presented as being factually accurate. In order not to be misleading by that fake news, it is mandatory to learn how to distinguish the truth of information. In this meeting, I want to share/discuss my experience to deal with the fake news.

Guided Questions:

What’s the misinformation you hear most frequently?

How do you handle this kind of fake news?

Would you speak out the truth?

Meeting agenda:

14:30 - 14:45 Warm up and self-introduction

14:45 - 14:55 Experience sharing

14:55 - 15:50 Group discussion

15:50 - 16:00 Break time

16:00 - 17:10 Clip watching and brain stone

17:10 - 17:30 Q and A

<Recap of Bliss Meeting “The Ocean Cleanup” by Wen on July 20, 2019

Date: July 20, 2019

Host: Wen

Topic: The Ocean Cleanup

Attendees: Wen, Tony, Annie, Carmelo, Antonio, Hanny, Ellen, David

Meeting photo link: https://photos.app.goo.gl/f8uyqr1UjaRLpw1r7

Guided questions:

1.  Can you live in a world without plastic? Which parts is most difficult to you?

2.  What we can do to protect our earth from plastic pollution in our daily lives?

3.  What action you have taken for plastic pollution?

4.  Do you know the organization "The Ocean Cleanup?

Meeting started

Our handsome Host, Wen proceeded the meeting smoothly as scheduled and grouped us to discuss each guided question about “Ocean Cleanup” thoroughly as follows:

:

  1. How it began

In 2011, Boyan Slant, a Dutch engineering genius when he vacationed in Greece, and found more plastics than fishes in the ocean. He started his Ted talk to call up people to change the world of plastics. At age 19 in 2013, he founded NGO, The Ocean Cleanup, aiming to clean up all the plastics in the ocean!

  1. How has it done from 2013~till now

Their team experimented on System 001 from the original sketch, the Manta, sea anchor, the sea wave powered, anchored to the seabed, and then recent launch of upgraded System 001/B entailing two options to speed up or slow down .

  1. What it tells us:
  2. Age is never a barrier ~ Boyan Slant, a 19-year-old CEO and founder

You cannot dream big not because you are old; whereas, you are old because you stop dreaming big!

  1. Midas Touch, an irreversible tragedy

The allegory teaches us people need to sacrifice more if they wish to have Midas touch! Likewise, people need to pay more after they started to use the easy-molding, low cost mass-produced plastics!

  1. Can the Ocean Cleanup solve the plastic pollution?

It is sad to say that the plastics dumping speeds millions of times over than the cleanup! According to Greenpeace, 8.3 billion times of plastic have been produced since the 1950’s, and only 9% of this has been recycled. 12.7 million tons of plastics end up in the world’s oceans every year."

We also found that the trash not only from developing Southern Asian countries but also imported from the U.S.A. and European countries to dump into Asia!

Therefore, to fight against plastic pollution becomes everyone’s obligations!

  1. How can do with plastic pollution?—changing our buying and consuming habits

(1).Reduce: Bring our own table ware, cup or box and reduce the unnecessary packaging or buy biodegradable goods!

(2).Reuse: Don’t ask for one-time-disposal plastic goods! If yes, please try to reuse them!

(3)Recycle: Assort your trash into different kinds for recycle.

Reflection:

We thank Wen’s well-prepared information about Ocean Cleanup, and the attendees’ feedback, from which we learned to cherish the natural resources and make wise use of plastic and eco-friendly products. Only with such environmental awareness, we can prevent from the upcoming plastic disasters in the globe! Cheers and stay tune!

<Bliss Recap of “My Trip in America” by Aaron on July 13, 2019

Date: July 13, 2019

Host: Aaron

Topic: My Trip in America

Attendees: Annie, Aaron, Mike Young, Levina, Stephanie, Tony, Angel, Antonio, Winnie, Lynn

Meeting photo: https://photos.app.goo.gl/jBpXK3kNxrSp59po7

Meeting started….

In general speaking, it seemed that everyone got something to say on the topic for over ten people attended Aaron’s first meeting today!

Part I. L.A."Creative Capital of the World"

Los Angeles is known as the above because one in every six of its residents works in a creative industry and there are more artists, writers, filmmakers, actors, dancers and musicians living and working in Los Angeles than any other city.

Firstly, he warmed up by grouping us to discuss the following questions and asked us to present the answers accordingly.

(1)   If you go to other country, which one do you want to visit? City or country? Why?

(2)   Have you been to Los Angeles? If yes, do you like it? Why or why not? If no, do you want to go to L.A.?

(3)   The most progressive city in Taiwan is Taipei, do you like this city? Why or why not?

(4)   Discuss with your partner about 3 pros and 3cons of Taipei.

The questions are life-related so Blissers expressed their ideas comprehensively. Some people would like to choose Boston or L. A. as ideal places, others choose Japan! As for Q3, Taipei needs more improvements on construction and street regulation enforcement although it is acclaimed for the clean MRT and Barrier-free space.

Then he started talking about the geography of L.A.

The city of Los Angeles covers a total area of 1302 square meter, comprising 1214 square meter of land.  Los Angeles is both flat and hilly. The highest point in the city proper is Mount Lukens at 1,547 m, located at the northeastern end of the San Fernando Valley. The eastern end of the Santa Monica Mountains stretches from Downtown to the Pacific Ocean and separates the Los Angeles Basin from the San Fernando Valley. Other hilly parts of Los Angeles include the Mt. Washington area north of Downtown, eastern parts such as Boyle Heights, the Crenshaw district around the Baldwin Hills, and the San Pedro district.

Surrounding the city are much higher mountains. Immediately to the north lie the San Gabriel Mountains, Its high point is Mount San Antonio, locally known as Mount Baldy, which reaches 3,068 m.

Climate of L.A. :Mediterranean climate rainfall during winter

Los Angeles has plenty of sunshine throughout the year, with an average of only 35 days with measurable precipitation annually. The coastal region around Los Angeles has a climate comparable to coastal areas of southeastern Spain such as Alicante or Elche, in temperature range and variation, in sunshine hours and as well as annual precipitation levels.

Landmarks of L.A.

A.     LACMA short for Los Angeles County Museum of Art

He showed us the exhibitions as follows:

(1)   Urban Lights

Artist: Chris-Burden Year-2008; 202 street lamps with 309 bulbs

(2)   Rainroom Artist-Random International Year-2012 Walk in the rainfall without getting wet.

B.      Universal Studio

Other than movie scenes like “Jaws”, “Earthquake”, it adds the scenes of “Harry Potter” which attracts many thousands of children each year!

C.      Disneyland The most favorite for adults and children!

D.     Hollywood

The city's Hollywood neighborhood has become recognized as the center of the motion picture industry and the Los Angeles area is also associated as being the center of the television industry. The city is home to the major film studios as well as major record labels. Los Angeles plays host to the annual Academy Awards, the Primetime Emmy Awards, the Grammy Awards as well as many other entertainment industry awards shows.

E.      Griffith Observatory

The Griffith Observatory is a facility in Los Angeles, California, sitting on the south-facing slope of Mount Hollywood in Los Angeles' Griffith Park. It commands a view of the Los Angeles Basin, including Downtown Los Angeles to the southeast, Hollywood to the south, and the Pacific Ocean to the southwest. The observatory is a popular tourist attraction with a close view of the Hollywood Sign and an extensive array of space and science-related displays. Admission has been free since the observatory's opening in 1935.

Then, Host Aaron helps us interact with each other with the following questions:

(1)    Have you been to museum or art exhibition? Do you like it? Why or why not?

(2)    Share your experience to visit the museum with us.

(3)    Have you been to amusement park? Do you like it? Why or why not?

(4)    Which one do you like? Disneyland or Universal Studio? Why?

Part II. Las Vegas:The Entertainment Capital of the World”

It is an internationally renowned major resort city, known primarily for its gambling, shopping, fine dining, entertainment, and nightlife. The Las Vegas Valley as a whole serves as the leading financial, commercial, and cultural center for Nevada.

The city is famous for its mega casino–hotels and associated activities. It is a top three destination in the United States for business conventions and a global leader in the hospitality industry, claiming more AAA Five Diamond hotels than any other city in the world. Today, Las Vegas annually ranks as one of the world's most visited tourist destinations. The city's tolerance for numerous forms of adult entertainment earned it the title of Sin City, and has made Las Vegas a popular setting for literature, films, television programs, and music videos.

Then Host Aaron introduced us the hotel he stayed and other impressive casino scenes around!

  1. Seven Magic Mountains

Built as a public art exhibit by Swiss artist Ugo Rondinone, the 30-foot fluorescent “totems” stand like brightly colored beacons lighting up the desert sky. Rondinone used locally sourced boulders, and chose this location because it’s “physically and symbolically mid-way between the natural and the artificial.”

The Seven Magic Mountains are a temporary exhibit, and will be on display until May 2018.

  1. The Cosmopolitan

The resort opened on December 15, 2010, and is located just south of the Bellagio on the west side of Las Vegas Boulevard.

It consists of two high-rise towers, the Boulevard Tower and the Chelsea Tower, both of which are 184 meters tall. The $3.9 billion project features 3,027 rooms, a 10,000 m2 casino, 28,000 m2 of retail and restaurant space, a 3,700 m2 spa and fitness facility, a 3,200-seat theater, and 14,000 m2 of meeting and convention space.

In 2013, the hotel was rated "The Best Hotel in the World" .In 2015, the resort was named to the Condé Nast Traveller Gold List as one of the "Top Hotels in the World“

3.Bellagio

4. Venetian (Venice)

5. The Wynn

Questions for Las Vegas

  1. Have you been to casino? Which casino have you been?

(2)     Do you like gambling? Which gambling game you like the most?

Natural Beauty: Canyons

  1. Horseshoe Bend

Horseshoe Bend is a horseshoe-shaped incised meander of the Colorado River located near the town of Page, Arizona, United States.

Horseshoe Bend is located 8.0 km downstream from the Glen Canyon Dam and Lake Powell within Glen Canyon National Recreation Area, about 6.4 km southwest of Page.

It is accessible via hiking a 2.4 km round trip from a parking area just off U.S. Route 89 within southwestern Page. Horseshoe Bend can be viewed from the steep cliff above.

The overlook is 1,300 m above sea level, and the Colorado River is at 980 m above sea level, making it a 300 m drop.

  1. Antelope Canyon

Antelope Canyon was formed by erosion of Navajo Sandstone, primarily due to flash flooding and secondarily due to other sub-aerial processes. Rainwater, especially during monsoon season, runs into the extensive basin above the slot canyon sections, picking up speed and sand as it rushes into the narrow passageways. Over time the passageways eroded away, making the corridors deeper and smoothing hard edges in such a way as to form characteristic "flowing" shapes in the rock.

Flooding in the canyon still occurs. A flood occurred on October 30, 2006, that lasted 36 hours, and caused the Tribal Park Authorities to close Lower Antelope Canyon for five months.

Questions for Canyons

(1) Which natural landscape do you like the most? Describe it with us!

(2) Which scenery do you like? Mountain or sea? Why?

Traffic Rules which Host Aaron found different from Taiwan

1.Stop!

2.Pedestrian first!

3.You can turn right on red.

Questions for travelling experiences:

  1. Have you been to any country with very different culture or traffic rule?
  2. Which country do you want to visit next? Why?

Reflections:

Host Aaron brought us an informative and resourceful afternoon as he was well –prepared for the guided questions during each section, the arrangement of which trigged more interaction and feedback among the audience and made the discussion intriguing! He proceeded and organized the meeting very successfully as an experienced host! We appreciate his efforts together with all the participants’ inputs and look forward to his next meeting soon! Stay Tune!

Date: June 22, 2019

Host:Anita

Topic: “My Journey in China Part II” by Anita on June 22, 2019”

Attendees: Anita / Ellen / Angel / Winnie / Emma / Serine/ Daniel Yang

Photo Link: https://photos.app.goo.gl/EoUAyFG9xqoReofe6

Dear Blissers

Anita started her meeting with the hot issue the 31 incentives to Taiwanese by China. China offers 31 professional and economic incentives to Taiwanese in beginning this year.

There are 12 measures are concerned with Taiwanese enterprises competition. They allowed Taiwanese participate in public biddings and innovation programs in China’s state-owned enterprises, and we have some equal rights as their citizens.

Similarly, there are 19 measures offer new opportunities for highly educated Taiwanese to study, and people could initiate startups or join the China labor market in areas which have been difficult to enter in the past. For example, Taiwanese people have no need to apply a work certificate now, so if you want to work there is easily than before.

Blissers went on discuss their observation toward the educational and workforce changes after the announcement of the 31 incentives by China last Feb

Since China issued the31 incentives惠台政策, Anita can be clearly observed that there are more students in universities who want to go to China to be exchange students, go to graduate school or have some professional competition. Even junior high school students want to go there to expand their horizon. Although there is a lot of negative news from China, some people still believe there are different opportunities.

Anita found some situations which are different from the past. When she was a college student, she was the third one to study in class in China (almost 5 years ago). At that time, just have two to four students were willing to study in China every year.

But last month, she went back to school for a speech. (The speech topic was a bit similar to today.) She found that the current willingness of students to study in China is different from the past, and the students in that speech class has more than 10 students want to apply for are the exchange student or a graduate student.

In addition to the teachers who are actively promoting these opportunities, the 30 audiences were staying curious and focus on her speech. Many students asked questions about life and study in China. They want to get more diversity and special experience to broaden their horizon.

Another example is, she recruited some interns for her current international CAP firm recently, and three students of all rejected her internship offer because they got the chance to go to China to study.

From these experiences was really surprised her and Let her found more and more people still want to get some chance from China.

As to Anita, she has been in Beijing for two years. The big cities and international resources are really rich. She has always lived and studied there with an open minded of learning from each other and experiencing local life.

At the same time, she has a belief there….that is not to lose herself, and try to understand the things around her. Any small things will become the best resources.

Other people’s weakness should be kept in her mind and try to feel each culture and people around her with heart. Learning hard to the fullest will make her a better person. And all of these are also the deepest understanding she has gained in studying in China for two years.

Of course, some people go for money, because money is really attractive.

To collect resources, China’s government use diversified ways to get their wants. As an example, they announce the students who study in graduate school or doctoral degree have no need to pay for tuition fee.

And there was her study expense in China for one year. Details as following table, which Anita can earn 66,700NTD/year for her study in China for master degree

Expenses

Scholarship/Graduate grand

Tuition

8,000/year

Accommodation fee

1,200/year

8,000/year

subsidy

500/month x 7=3,500

Teaching assistant allowance

600/month x7=4,200

港澳台scholarship

8,000/year

total

9,200/year (42,320TWD)

23,700/year (109,020TWD)

14,500 (66,700TWD)

Another interesting thing is that the recruitment time in China's campus is particularly early. It usually starts in August of the year before graduation. The school will invite companies to recruit students in school. At this time, many students will actively prepare for the interview, so the students will get the offer early than Taiwan.

As for the salary, the students who graduate on the first tier of school from Bachelor can get 6,000~8,000 per month on average, Master degree is 8,000~12,000.

However, there are a lot of taxes, five insurances and one Housing Provident Fund that the labor needs to pay for them. Generally, 25% of the salary will be deducted from (包括養老保險endowment insurance)、醫療保險medical insurance)、失業保險unemployment insurance)、工傷保險employment injury insurance)和生育保險maternity insurance);“一金”指的是住房公積金Housing Provident Fund)、 income tax, so you can easily see the company needs to spend a lot of money on paying five insurances and Housing Provident Fund. In terms of funds, although foreigners work in China, the government will grant subsidies to enterprises. The cost of hiring foreigners will save money compared to hiring locals. However, a few large companies will still comply with laws and regulations to help workers insured fully.

However, the good news is that the new taxation decree was announce in January this year, and the people of Taiwanese, Hong Kong, and Macao were only required to provide local labor and health guarantees, then they did not have to pay for them.

Taiwanese Labor Insurance and Health Insurance also include these subsidies, but the cost is much cheaper. These attached tables are for everyone to compare

0622pic1.png

0622pic2.png

0622pic4.png

And the company whether giving “the qualification of the living to the city “may also affect the salary package. Because the qualification can get lots of welfare.

Like you can buy houses, get the visa to renew or some official certification service, and children can go public school in local and so on. However, that’s not an easy certification to get. You have to pass some conditions before you have a chance to get it.

Like pay the social insurance for more than 5 years, graduating from a master degree or doctoral degree, you are an excellent talent and freshman and so on. Even if you have these conditions, you may not be able to get one. Everything is a chance, even you have money.

So many workers who are work for 北京 or 上海companies are eager to get "the qualification of the household registration". If you don’t have that, just cannot stay comfortable in that city which you want to stay.

How inconvenience is it?

If you want to apply some certifications you need to go back to your household registration location. Otherwise, the workers who have no rights to buy a house, do the divorce procedure, renew a visa or take children to a public school and so on, so some people rather get a lower payment than to get a qualification of the rights in the city.

The easiest way to get one is for fresh graduates to find jobs, but often these opportunities are only available to the company for excellent talent.

For example, 百度 planed to recruit 3,000 employees in 2014. But they only offered 40 quotas, which mean it is very difficulties to get the qualification.

When it comes to this, there is a questionnaire. This questionnaire could test whether you are suitable for working in China? Please scan QR code to open it.

https://www.gvm.com.tw/event/32anniversary/ At the same time as completing this questionnaire, you can find out the personality traits that are suitable for work in China. If you want to go there, then you can reference these questions.

In the end of meeting,

Blisses discussed what is the salary package for assignments to China or Southeast Asian countries?

If you or your friend has a chance to work aboard in China or Southeast Asian countries, what is the best salary structure?

Local pay or expatriate pay?

What is the minimum expected salary for local hire?

The basic wage is multiplied by 1.5 times, plus the rent allowance, relocation allowance, etcetera.

Don't forget to compare the company's salary with your local colleagues.

There are some generally items in salary package that can be a reference to you.

Local salary / living allowance / social insurance (labor insurance) / relocation fee / return home ticket 6 / housing allowance / visiting relatives’ tickets / tax burden subsidies, etc.

Bliss Recap of “靈性開悟不是你想的那樣”,Bliss 2nd Book Reading & Discussion on June 15, 2019

Date: June 15, 2019

Topic: “靈性開悟不是你想的那樣

Bliss 2nd Book Reading & Discussion

Attendees: Ellen, Mike, Emma, Selina, Cindy, Daniel Yang, Antonio

Meeting Photo Link: https://photos.app.goo.gl/WEKa5qxcyVsY94Vk9

Meeting started from “what does “enlightenment” mean to you?”

Blisser A: Ability to stay calm whatever the environment is

Blisser B: Out of thinking with highest mindset

Blisser C: Everything is not important; you create your own reality

Blisser D: Reach a status that not feeling confused anymore

Blisser E: Law of attraction not stays there when encountering problems but try to get solution for your own problems

Blisser F: Worry free, status of happiness

Discussion your personal interpretation or example for non-duality:

1. Blisser A

No matter what it is, just accept it. For example, when I didn't eat dinner on Friday and Sunday, I would expect to eat a good and big breakfast next day before. However, I don't expect it now.

2. Blisser B

I was excited to get a good job because I thought it was a big company. But, it turned out to be a nightmare. So, don't think working for a big company is a good choice.

3. Blisser C

Bicycling to 太平mountain in a rainy day and I was soaking and felt cold. I ate a meal. Although the mall was common, I felt it was delicious.

Feedback from Blissers about the meeting

Blisser A

What a vibrant atmosphere today at the Bliss meet-up. The movie director, big cheese, Ellen, maneuvered the show quite well while the script writer Angel who acted as facilitator stood behind the scene.  Probably Angel has been the most influential person who bridged the gap among audiences.

Though Ellen, the firefighter, acted as acting director, her capability, and talent, soul-searching techniques that triggered everyone’s inner voice and reactivated our power to appreciate Dualities.  She is one of a kind doing the presentation.

What left unknown is our true mentor Angel would have to stand upfront by the podium addressing her inner thoughts and philosophy? For further enlightening us, you have the call. We wait for you, Angel.

Other than that, this transcendental subject is yet to further explore. There was no awkward silence but passion. There’s no idling but brain-rebooting.

To wrap up my remarks, there is a law of attraction. What goes around comes around! Failure is not troublesome while success is awesome. While high tide rises, low tide will come as well. Be resilient, hard-working, analytical, and be a truth seeker, then we should find solutions.  Although we let the nature take its course, we still have to do our job.

Blisser B:

If there is still an opportunity, I would like to be happy to see more "free-style", extensive and in-depth discussion on related subjects, “to be open-minded", though.  After all, it's about spiritual enlightenment. (Smiling cloud)

Willing and daring to think out of "the mentor's" box might make us more free and comfortable to explore broader horizons and break limits to achieve self-awareness and enlightenment.

Blisser C

I was so glad to be there and happy to see you again! Thank you for your great sharing. 👍

No one knows what is going to happen tomorrow and I believe the things having happened to me is a beautiful gift in the end.

Let’s enjoy the life and the journey of self-discovery!

Blisser D:

1. I think the enlightenment is to try to know what the reality is.

2. I am the watcher and want to be awakened watcher, because I am not sure if I am awakened.

Carmelo has reversed our dull stereotypes of the traditional Taiwanese Palm Drama Art since his performance in his meeting and YEP in 2018.  His fluent Taiwanese Dialects in antithetical couplets and brilliant vocal varieties fascinated the audience and awakens their sense of “localization”! Like western “Talk show & Stand-up Comedy “, “TPD” rooted in local customs and humanistic cultures, via Masters’ word of mouth and lively character description and manipulation, passed through centuries continues to be appreciated today.

This coming Q2 outing, we are going on “The Journey to the West—to DaDaoCheng”, deeply virtually being part of the dramas.  Immersed in the “Interactive Demonstration” on the spot, we will learn the hidden expertise over the century from National Treasure Masters there and receive the torch of tradition!

Without further delay, let’s explore the Amazing Wonders with Blissers then!

Bliss 2nd Book Reading & Discussion

Recap of < “Do Schools Kill Creativity? -Vision & Goals of 12-year Curriculum” by BK on June 1, 2019”

Date: June 1, 2019. Saturday

Host: BK

Topic: “Do Schools Kill Creativity? -Vision & Goals of 12-year Curriculum”

Participants: BK, Ellen Huang, Winnie, David, Annie, Mike Young

Meeting photos: https://photos.app.goo.gl/exDxRAGFgh7k86zVA

Meeting started:

Examples: Chinese VS. Jewish

A kid asked his parent: What can I do when I grow up?

Jewish parents: Observe what kinds of need in the world now and see what you can offer to satisfy the needs.

Chinese parents: Observe what the successful people (or me) have done and follow suits.

  1. You have told your child not to steal, but one day in the 7-eleven, you found your child steal something. What will you do>

Jewish parents: Accompany their child to the counter and confess what he has done and see what the counter clerks would deal with it, the consequence which he need to face!

Chinese parents: Accompany their child to apologize what he has done and beat him hard immediately on the spot and back home.

  1. Group Decision Making

When one proposal gets the unanimous agreement

Chinese boss: We are of one mind and let’s go for it! (Resist any disagreement)

Jewish boss: What is the catch here? We need to find it out before we go for next step! (Welcome different opinion and questions)

  1. A young entrepreneur who failed 19 times but now is searching for the 20th investment

Chinese Investor: His records prove he is a loser, worthless to invest at all...

Jewish investor: He has the courage to try the 20th times! Let’s hear what he learned from the failure experiences.

What conclusions you can get from the above 4 examples?

  1. Video: I sue school kill creativity

How can you teach a fish to climb up a tree and run for 100 miles?

How can we teach children without regard of their temperament, nature, nurture, and gifts? Everyone is UNIQUE!

  1. Handout: Chinese Imperial Examination

It became widely utilized as the major path to office since Han Dynasty and remained so until its abolition in 1905. . On one hand, it stabilizes the social order but shaped its citizen inclining to obey not to fight! On

3. Chinese (Confucian examination syllabus) VS. European (Humanist education)

=Stifle creativity VS. Challenge authority

However, Chinese offers fair play on the ladder of success and centered on the fundamental and general training, some of which even some European governments adopt to distinguish students between Academic or technical inclinations.

Question: How to adapt it into practice properly?

4. Video: What should school be?

Schools teach us language, math, physics and so on for us to prepare for the better future but not survive for present survival skills such as cooking, DIY and so on.

5. 12-year Curriculum for Basic Education in Taiwan in 2019—aims to strive for the development of potential in the individuals

It is learner-centered. Goal-oriented, mission-oriented, and value-oriented. It is regulated into the law, article 3 of Taiwan educational fundamental Act. It is going to practice this coming semester in September, 2019.

6. Competitive vs. Cooperative Learning Formats

Competitive

Cooperative

No integration between pupils

Active interaction with others

No accountable to others

Accountable to others

Responsible only to self

Responsible to the group

Homogeneous grouping if any

Heterogeneous grouping

One student serves as leader

Interdendency

Social skills assumed or ignored directly

Social skills taught

Q1: Is Taiwan school practicing the cooperative learning formats in classrooms? YES

Q2: Are teachers competent to group students in cooperative teaching methods? YES

Q3. When is the best timing for cooperative teaching? Learning teaching via monitoring and teaching!

Upgrading Education is A MUST: Better Human Resource & Prosperous Taiwan

=Needs the supports from citizens with citizenship!

7. The Pygmalion Effect (contrast: Golem Effect) impact your performance

The good leadership in cooperative teams will manage in a positive “can-do” approach instead of “despising” one because it will arouse “used-to-be-low-achievers” to reach for better performance!

8. **Disparity: 80/20 rule (Pareto principle) 20% privileged people control 80% of low-paid paid workers s and natural resources! ***

**Titty+Entertainment=Tittytainment***

Globalization makes 20% (Class A) wealthier and wealthier while 80% (class B) poorer and poorer, and then who become marginalized soon. The disparity between classes speed up the mutual conflicts, which Class A try to avoid.  Subsequently, Class A invented “Tittytainment”, featured in a low cost, poor taste and sensory satisfaction to hocus 80% in fear of their lurking dangers!

9. **One parental tip offered by BK**

If you want your children to improve, let them overhear the nice things you say about them to others.  By Haim Ginott , Isreal teacher, 1922~1973!

Attendee’s feedback

(1)🌇Who stifled my creativity? You, him or her?

Nay, it could be the system, your surroundings, or those stereotypical reactions that take you down.  Or perhaps school structure would have sabotaged your potential.   The sharing of BK’s goes beyond my imagination.  Not only has it sparked our passion pitching in the focal discussion but developed our further thoughts about educational system.  There is no absolute sense of right or wrong.  However the formula remains existed that right attitude will help the young moving towards the healthy direction and all programs could be customized to seek potentiality who could be cultivated to be super athletes, entrepreneurs, scientists, or great leaders .

It may take to be channeled to possess proper attitude or behavior.  Each one has various potentials.  It could’ve turned ones into an expert or into becoming social mediocre people.

BK’s feedback

I did spend many days on this issue, and I am so excited we have

A time to share individual experiences with each other here in Bliss. I 100% glad received your encouragement and feedback. I always believe Bliss is a good place to practice collaborate learning, and with this idea we are the group to bless each other and benefits our own family even our community. Hopefully, this topic give us to think something around us and bless that one day we’ll see the next generation in Taiwan reach out their hands out to the world.

(2)✅What a job well done! You BK have a Style. It is Thought-provoking and good to be hilarious.  Coupled with your funny toss-up questions and fine-tuned video clips, it is a successful weekend sharing.  All the A’s goes to you, and F is not in my dictionary......🎉

Thanks for stimulating our creativity on group photo taken today and yet also attempting to our deeper thoughts and review our own educational experience, expectation and also to pitch how an ideal education shall look like in Taiwan.

My little one is going to elementary school this year, therefore , today's meeting truly inspire me to think more what parents role could be and getting involved to the new educational system in Taiwan

Thank you BK, you bring up an important issue and topic for us to think and discuss, most importantly, what we can ACT for this new educational system in Taiwan as the parents, as a citizen 😉

BK’s feedback

Remember years ago, you shared a topic about citizenship in Swiss, which gave me a deep impression. What I believe is education upgrade in Taiwan is not only the duty of the authority but also the citizens’ too. Child centered education =good Human Resources =prosper Future of our country.

Reflection

Bk’s presented his passion, dedication, and concern for better society. He streamlined the ideas in videos, handouts, guided questions, education system reviews thoroughly from ancient China to modern Taiwan, from west to east, from theoretical expedition to life-related application. Last but not the least, his pop-up humor, friendly Questions, and perfect time-control lead to successful-ever meeting in Bliss. Bravo, look forward to your next meeting~
