Dear Blissers

Kurt started his meeting with a very impressive self-introduction , his name given by his school teacher meant courteous and full of wisdom And he mentioned he has never met anyone in his life having the same name as him till NXP (the world top 5 semi-conductor company ) acquired his current company and the president of NXP also call Kurt Sievers~ 😊 Kurt now became the most famous employee in NXP Taiwan as he said !!

Then, we followed up his guided question discussion :

1.       What kind of social media plate form we use and whats the mot impressive thing happened on your own social media

ð  Blissers use FB / Line mostly and the most concern issue is privacy so some will create 2 different accounts on FB ( for work and for personal use ) while the others will use Korean account name on FB to prevent the others can search from them on FB

2.       Then we went on a case study shared by Kurt that a democracy reported by a Sweden NGO- V-Dem , their report up to more than 100+ pages to illustrate the democracy status in the world while one of the parameter they use is the fake news issue within a country , and Taiwan was reported as most severely fake news attacking target from foreign countries in the world . and here are 2 questions to think about

2.1   How they came out this result ? and how the sampling and target surveying audience are chosen

2.2   Observing Taiwanese medias reporting of V-Dem report , they select only the fake news parameter but ignore all the other important factors listed in this report , seems they want to guide the reader toward the fake news issue instead giving whole view of this democracy report

To sum up, Kurt reminded us being carefully check the source of news whenever you read also be highly alert not being manipulated by media

3.       So HOW and what we can do when reading these news?

3.1   check as more as different news media in the world for the same subject that youre really concern about ( as it is very time consuming , so focus of the issues that you concerned )

here are some news media for your info : BBC/ Fox News / The Economist / CNN / AI Jazeera (半島新聞) / RT ( Russian Today ) / EURONEWS

3.2   search those news media not only by one single search engine (e.g. Google ) but as more as possible like Bing / ask.com /AOL.com / Baidu /Yandex / Duckduckgo / yahoo..etc.

Why need to use different search engines? Here is latest news about how Google want to hack 2020 USA presidential election clip for your info:

4.       Lastly , our Blisses gave following feedbacks to our beloved host- Kurt in the meeting

4.1   Thanks for today's host Kurt, especially sharing the sources and methods for us to distinguish fake news , or some issue what we care about that makes me how I can remind myself to use different search engine and social media to double check and  have my critical thinking. Its also the crucial part which I need to learn .

Thanks for your sharing today.  And also Thank Ellen to sharing your ideas and puts good questions to host and us :)

4.2   As the source and information are incredibly enormous nowadays, it is really important for all the readers like us to sharpen our critical thinking capability as not to be easily manipulated by the search engine, news reporting and info sharing on social media ~ and one very important point is we shall not be the "helper" for those fake news, misinformation~ so let us NOT to spread info before we truly believe and verified by ourselves ( let misinformation and fake news stop from us )

5.      Host: Thank you so much. The problem is serious this information explosion era. It's my pleasure to host this meeting and get your attention. ;)
