Card Suits
They are Spades, Diamonds, Clubs and Hearts; the numerical value of 11 for a Jack, 12 for a Queen and 13 for a King with additional one for the Joker. We name the card as 4 of Diamonds or Jack of Spades and so on.
Warm-up
To break the ice, Johnson asked everyone what they had done during Chinese New Year after short self-introduction.
A Tiny Plunger Card Trick
Now one attendant was called for his (or her) chosen card to Johnson, who presented it after the attendant use the plunger on the cutting deck. As a professional magician, Johnson amused us with his false missing and card –reappearance in different positions!
Rubber Band Tricks
1. Performance: Separating the two crossed rubber bands in one second.
2. Tutorial: A rubber band mysteriously jumps from your index and middle fingers to pinkie and ring ones
Ring & Chain Trick
Tutorial: If you drop a ring after threaded by a chain, you will expect the fall but surprisingly it has magically tied to the chain.
Surname Guessing
Pick a surname and after 6 guesses, the magician can exactly guess it right!
Chinese Zodiac
Pick one and after 4 guesses, he will catch you!
Numerical Addition
Exact answer for a math addition right after showing 6 sets of two or three digit numbers!
Reflections:
Johnson’s meeting not only wowed but also engaged all of us in tackling the magicians’ hidden secrets and learning the tutorials to our satisfaction. He arouse our childlike curiosity and inspired us in life-related application such as Kids’ English /Math Teaching, Gathering’s Ice-breakers, fun psychological experiments, even for Altzmer’s preventives.
Besides, he gave away valuable gadgets as tutorial gifts, the generous credit he humbly acknowledged Hazel as the torch-passer! Actually the tradition has been built for twenty years, each host of which they are attributed with the love for sharing, the dedication for better quality, unselfishness in time or cost consuming!
His meeting convinces us of “Bliss” again!
All in all, we can’t thank Johnson more and all the participants for such a wonderful meeting and have already booked for the next-year one. Keep yourself in tune!
